Sustainability of Silk
Share
Aiming to be a sustainable fashion brand.
MEZUcofu primarily uses silk materials for its brand.
Silk has been said to be used in our lives for over 5000 years.
Silk is gaining renewed attention as a sustainable material with zero waste.
Not only the threads from the cocoon but also the pupae before becoming adults are eaten in silkworm-producing regions, and the oil extracted from the pupae is used as organic fertilizer in fields.
The droppings of silkworms, which grow by eating mulberry leaves, have been used as a traditional medicine called 'Sansha' for about 1800 years.
Thus, silk (silkworms) has zero waste and
is being re-evaluated as an 'eco-friendly material'.
Human-friendly natural fiber
Silk is a natural protein fiber made from the cocoons of silkworms.
Composed of about 20 amino acids, including alanine, glycine, and tyrosine, which are close to the components of human skin, it has long been called the 'queen of fibers' and has been loved by many as a skin-friendly material.
Additionally, silk is an excellent fiber for moisture absorption and release, breathability, and thermal insulation.
'Warm in winter and cool in summer,' it creates comfort like a natural air conditioner.
